quite a challenge to ride with the gauchos of Patagonia on long dusty round
ups and shoot the action from horseback. For this, I used two F100's, which
fit into specially modified camera bag/saddle bags, and carried three lenses:
Nikkor 20-35mm f/2.8 AF; Nikkor 35-70 f/2.8 AF; and the Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8
AF; and sometimes a teleconverter, and SB 28 flash. It was impossible to carry
a tripod, so I used an occasional fence post to steady the lens. But mostly
I relied on the speed of the lenses, as I usually did not have time to dismount
and set up a shot. (

This was shot from horseback on a slight hill above the
action, with the 80-200 f/2.8. I have found the F100 auto focus system to be
excellent for capturing images when the subject is moving sporadically through
the frame. The camera and lenses are also extremely rugged, and survived weeks
of jouncing around in saddle bags, as well as constant exposure to dust, cold,
moisture.
