apids at the top of Salto Grande, come out of Lago Nordenskold, below stormy clouds that partially cover the summits of Cerro Paine Grande and the Cuernos del Paine in Torres del Paine National Park, north of Puerto Natales, Patagonia, Chile. Once part of a large sheep ranch, the Torres del Paine area was established as a National Park over 20 years ago.

but the colors were beautifully saturated and the landscape dramatic. The Nikon gear I use is completely dependable in such extreme conditions, and I captured this scene with a Nikon F5 and a Nikkor 20-35mm f/2.8 lens, set up on the edge of the rapids on a lightweight Gitzo tripod. I used a small aperture and slow shutter speed to get great depth of field and to blur the movement of the water. Back
