am drawn to wild, harsh places, like Patagonia; places where life is both fragile and tenacious," says photographer Beth Wald, "where one's sense of being alive is heightened by extremes of landscape and weather." Her love of grand spaces and wilderness has taken her from one side of the globe to the other. Her work has taken her from the Arctic to Patagonia in southern Argentina, where she is working on a project documenting this vast land and the lives of the last of the Gauchos who live there. Beth Wald has photographed other adventures in diverse areas of the world--rock climbing in Vietnam, biking across Kenya and Tanzania, a scientific expedition to the Peruvian Andes, the musical scene in Havana, Cuba. She has worked for National Geographic, Life, Outside, Travel and Leisure, Men's Journal, and many other magazines and for such companies as The North Face, Patagonia Inc., and others. Beth Wald is represented by Aurora.
