Hali Tara Friehling studied cinema and photography at Ithaca College and then went on to complete her MFA in Photography and Related Media at The School of Visual Arts in New York. She worked as a freelance photo editor for Newsweek and was then the photo editor at Absolute magazine from its launch until it's close. For the past four years Friehling has been running the photography department at Details magazine as the senior photo editor.
