Exhibition

Premiering in April, 2000, the exhibition of Sebastião Salgado's work on international migrations will be a large-scale, multi-media experience, with a group of 250 to 500 photos (depending on the size of the exhibition space) at its core. "The show will go behind being an exhibit," Salgado says. "It must endeavor to be a broader means of communication." The exhibition will be organized in such a way as to allow visitors to "travel" through the various countries and subjects. Several slide projection spaces will help visitors understand the dynamics of the work and the overall form that this migration/transition takes in the world. Thousands of tear sheets will also be shown, reminding viewers that the photographers are directly related to daily life, to the daily newspaper, their personal history. Slide shows and posters outside of the exhibition space will also reach a much larger audience of millions of people in schools, universities, community centers, train stations, airports and other public spaces.
