Hommage à Balthus, 1984
This street scene is Skrebneski's nod to the Polish-French artist,
Balthus, who was known for his dreamy, sensual and enigmatic paintings
of adolescent girls. As Skrebneski focused his camera on this young
girl leaning against a sidewalk rail on a street in Monaco, two
pedestrians strode into the frame, introducing a kinetic element
that offset the girl's stillness. |
