Lagerfeld
for Chanel, 1994 &
Diahann Carroll, 1979
Skrebneski's famous image of a black Lagerfeld dress flying through the skies
of Paris was created for the photographer's book, The Art of Haute Couture. "We
didn't have enough money in the budget to shoot this couture line with models,"
Skrebneski recalls, "so I asked my assistant to throw the dress up in the air
in front of the Place Vendome. I paired it with this image of Diahann Carroll
because I thought it was amusing and charming to see Diahann Carroll's arm pushing
the Place Vendome sculpture over to the side."
