Vanessa
Redgrave, 1967
Emblematic of the turbulent sixties and the rise of feminism, Skrebneski's
portrait of actress Vanessa Redgrave has been called "one of the
most memorable images of that time." Now in the permanent collections
of the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, the Museum
of Modern Art in New York and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art,
its sculptural interpretation of form and classical lines reflect
the photographer's early training in painting and sculpture at the
Art Institute of Chicago and Maholy Nagy's Institute of Design.
