....Though he is best known for his commercial and corporate photography, Eric Meola actually began his career as an editorial shooter.

"I was very lucky to be relatively successful very early on with editorial photographer," he recalls. "It was at a point in time which is almost hard to imagine looking back. There were a lot of magazines out at the time--magazines like 'Geo' used color in an extremely bold way--they'd run 32 pages of color. Today that's unheard of." It didn't take long, however, for him to see the writing on the wall. "For better or worse, early on in my career I decided that I wanted to be paid well for taking the pictures I took," he says. "I knew that the days of the great editorial spread were waning."
