 After a long day of working with comedian and actor Steve Martin
for a six-page spread in Life, both McNally and Martin had reached a point where they were
both exhausted. At that point, McNally decided to try one more
gambit and asked the actor to physicalize the success he was having
in his career.
"He kind of like grimaced about it then he gave it to me," says
McNally. "He just kind of rolled his head back, he closed his
eyes and he looked up and in a funny way I think he gave it to
me because he didn't think I was ready for it because I didn't
have my camera to my eye. I knew I was focused and I had an assistant
with a small bank light off here so I knew I was lit and I just
hit a shutter and I got one frame. I wasn't looking through the
camera." |
