When Parks was shooting fashion, he had definitive views on what he liked and how he liked it to be photographed. Oftentimes he shot his fashion work in color. "I tend to use color when it dominates, while certain photographers feel that only black-and-white expresses the real truth of their subject matter," he remarks. "The spirit of color dwells within the subject matter, which is unending."

Parks says James Galanos, one of his favorite designers of women's clothing, loved this image in particular and loved that it used one of his favorite models, Pat. "I wasn't trying to get detail or anything," I was just trying to get Pat to move with the clothes. I think there was a fan used, to emphasize the motion—the blowing belt and so forth—yet I was shooting at a speed that would stop the motion."
